Big Night for the Loudon County Democratic Party
Over 70 people attended a Bean Supper held by Loudon County Democratic Party on May 17, 2007 at the Banquet Hall in Lenoir City which featured Gray Sasser as the guest speaker. Gray, who is the son of former U.S. Senator for Tennessee, Jim Sasser is the current Tennessee Democratic Party Chair. Mr. Sasser will be spending a great deal of time in East Tennessee over the next two years in an effort to increase Democrat's participation in party activities and to get out the vote. Gray feels that East Tennessee is the key to getting Democrats elected on a State and National level. He is also urging greater participation in county elections and events. We were much honored that Mr. Sasser accepted our invitation to visit Loudon County and hope that he will inspire Democrats to more actively participate in county, state and national events. |

The TNDP held a warm and friendly reception at the TNDP Headquarters for the County Chairs from across the state. Senator Sasser, did not speak to the group, but welcomed conversation with any who wanted to speak with him and most did. Senator Sasser’s appearance further ignited the group’s enthusiasm for the main event of the day, the Jackson Day celebration on the Bicentennial Mall which was walking distance from the TNDP headquarters.

The special guest speaker, Bill Richardson, Democratic Presidential Candidate, exchanged good fun jabs with Governor Phil Bredesen about who was the best governor in the country; this rallied the 1,000 plus Democrats in attendance at the annual event.
