Q: What is the Executive Committee? A: The Loudon County Democratic Party Executive Committee (LCDP E/C) is the governing body of the Democratic Party in Loudon County. This is the voting body of all official party business. The number of E/C members per district is proportional to the number of voting Democrats in that district. Your district is printed on your voter registration card.
Q: What is a District Chair? A: District Chairs are the fundamental, grass-roots, officials of the Democratic Party. District Chairs represent their home precincts on the Loudon County Executive Committee (E/C). Q: What are the qualifications to be an E/C, voting member? A: You must be a Democrat, 18 years of age or older, a qualified (registered) voter in Loudon County, reside in the district you wish to represent. Your district is printed on your voter registration card.
Q: What are the qualifications needed to be a District Chair? A: You must be a Democrat, 18 years of age or older, a qualified (registered) voter in Loudon County, reside in the district you wish to represent, and vote in the Democratic Primary election. Q: How do you become either a District Chair or E/C member? A: Every two years each Tennessee county Democratic Party must have a reorganization meeting. Those present elect their officers, chairpersons and district E/C members. Qualifications are set by the Tennessee Democratic Party Rules. Being 18 years of age and signing an affidavit to pledge allegiance to the Democratic Party. No dues are required! Q: What are the duties/responsibilities of the District Chair? A: In addition to serving as a voting member of the LCDP E/C, the District Chair serves as the contact person for the Democratic Party in their neighborhood. The District Chair should communicate with Democrats in their district and promote Democratic candidates and events. This includes phone banking your voters, organizing block walks (going door to door) to distribute campaign materials, and encouraging their neighbors to vote in upcoming primary and general elections.
Q: What are the responsibilities/duties of E/C members? A: The duties shall include but are not limited to: 1) Attendance, participation and voting at regularly scheduled meetings of the LCDP. 2) Support with personal time, talent, and financial resources, to the extent feasible, the candidates desiring to run for public office in Loudon County. 3) Elect the officers of said LCDP per the steps outlined in the By-Laws.4) Promote the Democratic Philosophy and ideals of The Democratic Party Q: Are any Democratic County Party positions a paid office? A: No.They are all volunteer positions, none are paid. No LCDP officers are paid. And no dues are charged.
